Bits & Pieces
visitors to New York take a look at some of the unique bed & breakfasts there which cater to the gay market. In its December issue, Out & About visits New York's four best known gay B & B's and offers the first honest opinion of each.
"New York has many high-quality, impersonal hotels which have and will always welcome gays," says Out & About editor Billy Kolber. "But for travelers looking for a place more convenient to the main gay neighborhoods of Chelsea and Greenwich Village, a few of the charming B & B's we visited just can't be beat."
Winning highest kudos in publication's monthly "Out at the Inn" column is Incentra Village, a property located in the heart of the West Village and just steps away from Chelsea, a popular gay neighborhood and home to some of the city's best nightlife. Incentra Village is a small, elegant property, featuring private baths and kitchenettes in all rooms. According to the publication. "Staying here is like having access to a lovely private home in the Village."
Also earning high marks is the Colonial House Inn, a place described as similar to a small, European hotel. Its 20 rooms, while small and basic, are impeccably clean, with many conveniences such as refrigerators. The Colonial House Inn is noted for it's attentive service and its great interest in and care for its guests.
Faring less well, according to Out & About, are the Chelsea Pines Inn and the Chelsea Mews Guest House.

United States and Europe. The winner, Inn Places, is an American-produced worldwide guide to gay and lesbian B&B's, hotels, inns, RV and camping.

Gay and lesbian Mormons, their friends, family members and those who counsel them about homosexuality now have access to a very helpful new resource-"No More Strangers and Foreigners."
This 24-page, professionally-published brochure was written by Robert A. Rees, who served as bishop for five years of a Mormon congregation for singles in Los Angeles. Bishop Rees developed an insight and understanding of gay and lesbian people which is representative of the growing awareness among members and leadership of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons).
No More Strangers and Foreigners is a welcome addition to the materials available for homosexual Mormons and their families. These publications help dispel the myths and misinformation about homosexuality which are sometimes accepted as fact in the Mormon community.
Topics discussed in No More Strangers and Foreigners include theories about the cause of homosexuality, recent medical research, change therapy, the double tragedy of AIDS and suicide, options in relating to the Church, how to assist parents in dealing with their homosexual children, and how we all might better relate to our gay brothers and sisters. Bishop Rees then shares his own witness and testimony of the need to accept gays and lesbians with Christian compassion.
Gay and lesbian Mormons, their friends and family members will appreciate the help and encouragement which No More Strangers and Foreigners provides. Single copies are available for $3.00 each, including first-class postage, from Grand Teton Graphics, P.O. Box 1826-A, Idaho Falls, ID 83403-1826. Bulk discount rates are also available in quantities of 10 or more.▼
